Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps LYNNEBEC has taken/will take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains.

Our Business and Structure

LYNNEBEC is a multidisciplinary performance company making work for outdoor and unusual spaces. Using physical storytelling, dance, and movement, we create interactive stories and adventures that are joyful and empowering. We engage freelancers, subcontractors, or third-party suppliers on a project by project basis.
We are committed to preventing modern slavery, both within our business and within our supply chains. We understand that modern slavery refers to the illegal practices of slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking, as defined in the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our Policies
Our business does not endorse, enable, or facilitate human trafficking or any form of modern slavery.

To protect and uphold the rights of those we work with, we have implemented the following HR-related policies and practices:

  • Equality & Wellbeing Policy

  • Access Rider

  • Formal grievance and disciplinary procedures

LYNNEBEC uses the Independent Theatre Council’s guidance and actively safeguards to ensure that the hourly rate of staff does not fall below the current Living Wage.

Due Diligence and Risk Management
We conduct risk assessments to identify areas of our business and supply chains where there is a potential risk of modern slavery. Our due diligence includes:

  • Vetting new suppliers for compliance with employment standards

  • Requiring contractual commitments from suppliers to uphold anti-slavery standards

  • Monitoring and auditing high-risk suppliers

These evaluations help us identify any potential risks and ensure fair and ethical treatment of everyone involved in our work.

Additionally, if any employee or collaborator undertakes work with external partners and encounters a suspected victim of modern slavery, they are required to report this to LYNNEBEC. If a report is received we will then arrange for the individual to be referred to the appropriate authority under the UK National Referral Mechanism (NRM), which ensures victims receive the necessary protection and support.

Looking Ahead
We are currently in a period of dormancy. We are committed to improving our processes and as and when the company resumes activity this policy will be reviewed.

This policy has been approved by Catherine Butler and Jess Barber the partners of LYNNEBEC and will be reviewed by them annually.
